We’ve been doing some research on gender selection clinics and found something interesting. Gender selection using PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) is actually illegal in the United Kingdom, for social reasons (i.e. just wanting to have a baby of a particular sex). However, it is legal for medical reasons (for example having a baby of a particular sex might result in it being handicapped, but a baby of the other sex has a much lower chance of being handicapped).

This raises an interesting debate – do you think that choosing the gender of your baby by paying for PGD at a clinic should be legal or not? Or should it only be allowed in a minority of cases, for example for medical reasons?
