Is it right to have a preference of baby gender?
A recent survey of parents-to-be found that 80% expressed a preference for a baby of a particular sex. The majority of parents-to-be who opted to have an ultrasound to determine sex said that their reason for doing this was to deal with any potential disappointment regarding baby gender before birth.
In general, women seem to express a desire to have a daughter, whilst in general men express a preference for a baby boy. It’s also common for parents-to-be to express a desire to have a second baby of the opposite sex to the first, in order to create a ‘more balanced family’.
Whatever the sex, many people think it’s more important that the baby is healthy. But the statistics show that many couples long for a a baby of a particular sex.
